Tourism Advisory Committee – Position Available

The Tourism Advisory Committee has a position available for a representative from the Town’s
hotel/motel establishments. If you are interested in serving, please complete a
board/commission application which can be found on here.

The form must be returned to Kim Kingsley, Clerk, kkingsley@abingdon-va.gov by
Monday, November 25, 2019. Applications will be considered by Council at the regular
December 2019 meeting

Notice – Real Estate Tax

Notice is hereby given that Real Estate Taxes for the second half of 2019 are due and
payable on or before Wednesday, November 20, 2019 pursuant to Abingdon, Virginia Code
of Ordinances, §66-1(2). Payments that are mailed must be postmarked by midnight of
Wednesday, November 20, 2019 by the United States Postal Service only. Postmarks from private
mailing machines are no longer acceptable. On November 21, 2019, a penalty and interest must
be charged in accordance with the Code of Virginia, §§58.1-3915, 58.1-3916, 58.1-3918 and
Abingdon, Virginia Code of Ordinances, §66-2.

The Town makes every effort to see that you receive your real estate tax bill(s); however,
Code of Virginia §58.1-3911 provides that the property owner is responsible for payments (plus
any penalties and interest) even if you did not receive your bill. Please contact the Town of
Abingdon Department of Finance immediately at 276-525-1464, if you did not receive your
bill or if you have any indication that your tax bill may have been misdirected.
