Notice – Real Estate Taxes DUE – May 20, 2021

Notice is herby given that Real Estate Taxes for the first-half of 2021 are due and payable on or before Thursday, May 20, 2021 pursuant to Abingdon, Virginia Code of Ordinances, §66-1(2). Payments that are mailed must be postmarked by midnight of Thursday, May 20, 2021 by the United States Postal Service only. Postmarks from private mailing machines are no longer acceptable. After May 20, 2021, a penalty and interest must be charged in accordance with the Code of Virginia, §§28.1-3915, 58.1-3916, 58.1-3918 and Abingdon, Virginia Code of Ordinances, §66-2.

The town makes every effort to see that you receive your real estate tax bill(s); however, Code of Virginia §58.1-3911 provides that the property owner is responsible for payments (plus any penalties and interest) even if you did not receive your bill. Please contact the Town Treasurer immediately at 276-525-1464, if you did not receive your bill or if you have any indication that your tax bill may have been misdirected.

Notice of Vacancy – Redevelopment and Housing Authority

Abingdon Redevelopment and Housing Authority is seeking a member to fill a vacancy. Interested persons will be subject to completion of a statement of economic interest form and may not miss more than three (3) meetings during a 12-month period of service.
