Notice of Vacancy – Redevelopment and Housing Authority

Abingdon Redevelopment and Housing Authority is seeking a member to fill a vacancy. Interested persons will be subject to completion of a statement of economic interest form and may not miss more than three (3) meetings during a 12-month period of service.

Interested persons should complete the Board and Commission application found here, and return the application to Kim Kingsley,  by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021.

Council will consider the applications at the February 2021 Council meeting.

Advertisement for Bids – Asphalt Resurfacing

Sealed bids for ASPHALT RESURFACING WORK for the Town of Abingdon, Virginia will be
received by John B. Dew, Director of Public Works, until 2:00 PM local time, Tuesday, January 26,
2021, at the Municipal Building, 133 West Main Street, Abingdon, Virginia 24210, at which time they
will be opened and publicly read aloud. Copies of the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS may be examined or
obtained at the above location. The work will consist of asphalt paving, milling, and striping at various
locations in Town.

Sealed proposals shall state on the outside of the envelope the company’s name and address and
“BID PROPOSAL – ASPHALT RESURFACING WORK”, addressed to the attention of John B. Dew,
Director of Public Works, P. O. Box 789 (133 West Main Street shipping), Abingdon, Virginia 24212
(24210 shipping). Bidders must be licensed as a Class A Contractor in the Commonwealth of Virginia and
prequalified with the Virginia Department of Transportation. All work shall conform to VDOT Road
and Bridge Standards and Specifications. The bidder’s attention is directed to the requirements of Title 2.2
Chapter 43, of the Code of Virginia and Chapter 2, Article V of the Code of Ordinances of the
Town of Abingdon. The procedure for withdrawal of bids shall conform to Code of Virginia,
Section 2.2-4330.B.(1). The bidder shall give notice in writing of his claim of right to withdraw his bid
within two business days after the conclusion of the bid opening procedure and shall submit original work
papers with such notice. The Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any
irregularities or informalities in the bidding, and to accept the proposal which, in its opinion, will
be in the best interest of the Town.
